The Reading League's digital presence is not one website. The 46 state chapter sites run on a WordPress Multisite installation built on the Avada page builder, a setup that forces a choice between giving volunteers too much freedom or too little. The evidence on this page makes clear which way that choice has gone.
We captured full-page screenshots of all 46 state chapter pages and overlaid them as a composite. The only consistent element was the shared header. Everything below it blurred into a smear of deviation.
This is not a failure of volunteer discipline. It is a structural failure of the tools they have been given. A page builder hands 46 volunteers a blank canvas and asks them to be designers. No policy document fixes that. A better system does.
